IBBY UK

IBBY UK is the British section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) - a worldwide non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing children and books together.  IBBY UK supports IBBY's mission through a number of events and activities:

Hans Christian Andersen Award

Every other year, IBBY UK nominates a British author and illustrator for the international awards, which are presented to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children's literature

IBBY Honour List

IBBY UK submits three books, one in each of the categories of writing, illustration and translation, to the Honour List - a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published artists in the world of children's literature.

IBBYLink

The IBBY UK journal, published three times a year on themed subjects, keeps members up to date on current issues and events.

International Children's Book Day

This special day is celebrated each year on or around 2nd April - the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen - to highlight the importance of children's books.
