IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award 2012
Thursday 23rd August, 18.00 - 20.00
The IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award is given biennially to two groups or institutions whose outstanding activities are judged to be making a lasting contribution to reading promotion programmes for children and young people. The 2012 Awards will be presented to SIPAR educational programme from Cambodia and the Abuelas Cuentacuentos:the Grandmother Storytelling Programme from Argentina.
 
IBBY Open Forum
Friday 24th August, 14.00 - 17.30 (teabreak 15.30 - 16.00)
An opportunity for the members of IBBY to discuss and share experiences from the different regions in an informal meeting.
 
IBBY Honour List 2012
Saturday 25th August, 14.00 - 15.30
The IBBY Honour List is a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published books, honouring writers, illustrators and translators from IBBY member countries. The 2012 list comprises 169 titles from 58 countries in 44 languages.
 
Hans Christian Andersen Awards 2012
Saturday 25th August, 7.45 - 9.45, The Science Museum
The Hans Christian Andersen Awards are the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children’s books.  The Awards are presented to an author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children’s literature. The winners of the 2012 Awards are author María Teresa Andruetto from Argentina and illustrator Peter Sís from the Czech Republic.
 
IBBY General Assembly
Sunday 26th August, 14.30 - 18.00, (teabreak 16.00 - 16.30)
The General Assembly is the business meeting and governing body of IBBY.  The appointed National Section delegates are invited to attend and vote on IBBY matters and in particular for the officers of IBBY for the in-coming two-year term of office.
